Plaid Music

After lots of changes, and more time than I initially expected, this is finally done. Basically the illustration posted below will become a website for a company producing tartan guitars (hence the name). Each element has a 'glow' effect when you run your mouse over it, signifying that it is a link, upon clicking said link - f.ex the guitars link to a gallery of images of the guitars they make - you are taken to the relevant section of the website. I'm assuming this will be done with overlays, but I'm not coding it.

This was actually quite a fun project, despite the amount of time it took. Looking forward to seeing the actual website when it's built. As ever, click to see it in its intended, original size.

Lack of updates have been down to my lack of time to do much personal work, but also because I am working on a big project right now which is an illustration for a website for Plaid Music, a company making tartan guitars. More on this soon as it's nearing completion.

Two websites with long names, the former a site dedicated to football, the latter dedicated to 'zines. Both have been kind enough to support my 'zine. In Bed With Maradona is hosting six sample images in their gallery section which you can view here. Reading Material for the Bored Minds at airports is a 'zine distro and is now selling copies of Real Men, check out Tijs' distro here.

In other news, my creativity has been sapped somewhat from the massive effort I put in to making Real Men. However, I'm getting back on the horse as I have been asked to do an illustration for a poster for the Your Neighbour The Liar & Football, Etc tour. Totally siked on doing this, although right now I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do.

I can't take credit for this concept, it's the original work of the brilliant Dada artist John Heartfield. I simply took the idea and reworked it to something else. With the whole Fifa fiasco recently, this was just something that popped into my head. I should probably affix the word 'allegedly' to the end of the text in the image. No matter, though, I'll just take out a super injunction if I get in trouble.

In related news, you can now order your copy of Real Men: The Lost Art of the Football 'Tache from the shop. There are just 200 copies available, each riso printed on 80gsm off-white paper for the inner pages and 170gsm off-white card for the covers. The printers have reliably informed me the 'zines will be delivered during next week, so order now to receive your copy around about next weekend to help you get through the desolate, club-football-less summer.

So I am undertaking a new project, an A5 'zine of illustrations of footballers who rocked that special accessory that only a man's man can pull off without looking a right plonker - the 'tache.

After computer problems, moving house and being busy at work during the beginning of 2011, I have neglected updating this blog and, largely, haven't had much time for personal work sadly. so i visited denmark earlier this year, with my girlfriend and four of our friends. i intended to lots of drawing, but i was slack. here is the only one that was in any way worthwhile. yes, it is a deer riding an ostrich. we were in a café with this stuffed monstrosity at the end of our table. pretty cool.
